Does it cost extra to ride SporTran with a bicycle?

No. Standard fares apply. Money-saving Day Passes and Monthly Flash Passes are available at the SporTran Terminal. These passes allow you an entire day or entire month - as often as you need - for one low price.

You can view or download our Bike and Ride brochure in PDF format. Brochures are available at the Downtown Terminal and at local Bike Shops: “River City Cycling” located at 3787 Youree Drive in Shreveport, “Scooter's,” located in Shreveport, at 1314 Shreveport-Barksdale Highway, “The Bike Pedaler” located at 8039 Line Avenue in Shreveport, and “Bikes, etc.,” located in Bossier City, at 3723 East Texas Street.

Will the bus driver help me to get my bike on the rack?

No. Drivers must stay on the bus except in an emergency but loading and unloading your bike is simple and easy.

If two bikes are already on the rack, can I bring my bike on the bus?

For the safety of bus passengers, bicycles are not allowed on the bus. Drivers can tell you when the next bus will arrive.

What size bicycles are allowed on the bike rack?

A:
|
Bicycles with 20 to 27 inch wheels fit on SporTran's racks. Smaller or larger bikes may not be secure in the rack and damage to the bike, the bike rack, or the bus could occur.

Are there any types of bicycles that are NOT allowed on the SporTran bike racks?
|
|
A:
|
Yes. Any bicycle with an electric or gas-powered motor attached cannot be placed on the racks. Also, any bike with baskets or other attachments which prevent the proper placement or securing of the bicycle are not allowed. Bikes with attachments which would come into contact with the bus or another bike on the rack are not allowed.

Am I required to wear a helmet when riding my bike and using the SporTran Racks?

|
Adults are not required to wear a helmet but SporTran strongly encourages you to do so. Children under 12 must wear a helmet as required by Louisiana law.

Will there be bike racks on all SporTran buses?
|

A:
|
Yes, unless the rack has been damaged by an accident or is in need of repair, all SporTran buses will have bicycle racks.

What do I do with my helmet, water bottle, and backpack when my bike is on the rack?
|
|
A:
|
Any loose items need to be removed from the bicycle. These items might include water bottles, tire pumps, seat packs, etc.
