What is the regular bus fare?
The regular fare is $1.00. For Senior Citizens (62 and over), people with disabilities, and students, the fare is 50¢ - BUT PROPER ID IS REQUIRED. Senior Citizens and those with disabilities must have a SporTran ID or Medicare Card + other proof of ID. Students MUST be age 12 through 12th grade AND have a SporTran Student ID. See the section below on ID requirements. Children under 37 inches tall (about 3 years old) can ride SporTran FREE.
Can drivers make change? Can I get change from the farebox?
NO. The driver cannot make change and the farebox does not make change. Please have exact change for your fare, transfer or DayPass when you board the bus. Change is available at the terminal - see below.
What bills will the farebox accept?
The farebox will read $1 bills only and it cannot make change. If you have $5 or $10 bills, you can get change at the terminal. Change for $20 bills will ONLY be given when a purchase is being made. There is a change machine at the terminal that will give you quarters in exchange for $1 bills - no other bills are accepted by the machine.
What is the transfer fee? Where can I purchase transfers?
How long does a transfer last?
A transfer costs 25¢ and can be purchased on the first bus you board for your trip. You can transfer from bus to bus for up to 90 minutes. After 90 minutes, the transfer expires. Transfers cannot be purchased at the Downtown Terminal.
Is there a way to avoid having to carry correct change all the time?
Can I avoid having to buy transfers?
YES. Buying a DayPass for $2.50 when you board your first bus of the day will allow you to ride all day without paying another fare or buying a transfer - just use your DayPass and you are on your way!

DAYPASS - FLASHPASS - DISCOUNT PASSES
What passes are available?
A $2.50 DayPass will let you ride ALL DAY. You won't have to buy a transfer or pay another fare all day. You may purchase a DayPass on the bus or at the terminal. Remember that exact fare is required on the bus and no change can be made. You must tell the driver that you are purchasing a pass before you put money into the farebox. NOTE: DayPasses and All Other Tickets and Passes including Discount Tickets and Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE.
A $35 monthly FlashPass (purchase at Downtown Terminal only) will allow you to ride ALL MONTH without buying anything else - no fares - no transfers. YOU MUST keep your FlashPass safe. If the writing on the FlashPass cannot be read, it is no good and will not be accepted. NOTE: FlashPasses and All Other Tickets and Passes including Discount Tickets and Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Is there a pass for Shreveport City Employees?
YES. Shreveport City Employees can ride FREE, but, they must have a SporTran-issued ID card AND the card must be turned in when it expires. Shreveport City Employees can call 221-RIDE for more information.
What discount passes are available?
Senior Citizens (62 and over), those with disabilities and students can qualify for a $17.50 monthly FlashPass. To purchase a discount pass, each qualified rider must have the proper SporTran ID. To use the discount pass, the rider must have the proper SporTran ID and the Discount Pass for presentation to the bus driver. NOTE: Discount Passes and All Other Tickets and Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Can I get a refund on a pass or ticket?
NO. All passes are non-refundable. There are no exceptions.
ID CARDS FOR DISCOUNT FARES & PASSES
If I need a SporTran ID, what will I need?
If you are a Senior Citizen, you will need positive proof of your age (must be 62 or over). A Medicare card or Louisiana ID or Driver’s License can be used.
If you are Disabled and are not 62 or on Medicare, you will need a disability letter from your doctor. It should be an original - NOT a copy.
If you are a Student, you must have a CURRENT letter from your school. The letter must have the Caddo or Bossier Parish seal AND no copies will be accepted. Students at private or alternative schools may apply with an original letter (no copies) from their school. Students must be age 12 through the 12th grade. There is a $2 fee for Student ID Cards.
If you are a Shreveport City Employee, you will need your most recent check stub along with a City ID that matches the check stub.
When are ID Cards issued?
ID Cards are issued Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. NO ID CARDS are issued on the first or the last 3 days of each month.
HOURS OF OPERATION - ROUTES - SCHEDULES
When do buses start operating in the morning? How Late?
Buses leave the terminal as early as 5:55 a.m. Monday through Friday and later on Saturdays and Sundays. You’ll need to look at a schedule for the route(s) you’ll be riding to get exact times. Most routes end their weekday schedule between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. but the times vary by route and weekend schedules are different.
How can I get information about Routes and Schedules?
All information about routes and schedules is posted on-line at www.sportran.org and you can call (318) 221-RIDE Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The information window at the SporTran terminal is open between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to Noon and from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Is there a fee for schedules? For system maps?
Standard maps and schedules are free of charge. There is a 25¢ fee for color system maps.
How will I know when my bus is scheduled to leave the terminal?
Departure times are listed at each terminal bay. The time indicates when the a bus will leave on that route’s next trip.
What is SporTran newest route?
SporTran’s newest route (East Bossier #16) is in Bossier City and serves Bossier Parish Community College. When this route was created, the North Bossier route (#15) was changed. For the latest route information, go to www.sportran.org or call 221-RIDE.
How many buses does SporTran Operate? How many buses are there per route?
SporTran operates about 50 buses and there as many as 3 operating on a single route at one time. Different numbers of buses operate on routes depending on day of the week and time of day. The number is determined by the demand for service at a particular time.
SERVICE FOR THE DISABLED - LIFTLINE
If I’m disabled, how can SporTran help me?
All of SporTran’s buses are accessible for the disabled. All buses have lifts and kneel for easy boarding. The terminal also meets ADA requirements and is fully accessible to the disabled.
What if my disability won’t allow me to ride a bus?
SporTran’s LiftLine service may be a good alternative for you. LiftLine operates on a demand-response basis for residents and visitors within the Shreveport/Bossier City limits who are certified as ADA paratransit eligible. LiftLine operates between the hours of 6:15 am - 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, 7:15 am - 6:45 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8:00 am 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. Hours of operation are subject to change.

SPORTRAN REGULATIONS & SECURITY
What are some of basic SporTran rules?
1) Continuous riding, without a destination, is not allowed.
2) Personal phone calls can be made a pay phones located in the terminal. No personal calls can be made for you at the terminal window.
3) Panhandling or begging is not allowed at the terminal or on any bus.
4) Loud music, loud talking, profanity and disruptive behavior are not allowed at the terminal or on SporTran buses.
5) Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the terminal or on buses.
6) Large items like wagons, yard equipment and bicycles are not allowed on the buses.
7) No hazardous materials like fuels are allowed on the bus.
8) No firearms are allowed at the terminal or on the bus, even if you have a permit.
9) No animals are allowed except for seeing-eye dogs or dogs trained to sense seizures - proof may be required.
Is there security at the terminal?
Shreveport Police Officer(s) provide security at the terminal.
UTILITY PAYMENTS
Can I make my utility payments at the SporTran Terminal?
YES, you can pay your AEP SWEPCO, Arkla, BellSouth, and Shreveport Water bills at the SporTran terminal. Utility payments are accepted Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $1 fee for Arkla and BellSouth payments. Payments made may not be immediately credited to your account - it could take up to 3 days.
